Palazzo Medici

While visiting the Medici Palace, We came across of series of roundels depicting the deeds of Hercules. Basically he is shown locked in battle with hydras/men/lions etc. Quote of the Day:
I go, "Damn, Hercules pwnd"
Professor goes, "That was his job"

San Miniato 2

Trash

Wanted to get away from the crowds in the downtown, hiked up to the hilltop church of San Miniato. Had some fun playing with low fstop. CUT did a track workout today...suckers. I ate bonbons and people watched. Feeling poor, so I bought some peanut butter and pretzel sticks, doing an experiment to see how long it lasts. I told the pizza story and this girl, Sandy, laughed so hard she couldn't breath... Thanks again Dan, for saving my life.

Sabado

A quiet weekend in Firenze. I am thinking of doing a matchdesielesque post, just because i could say anything i wanted no matter how dated it is. I'm worried the dollar is going to drop relative to the Euro, thinking about talking a bunch of Euros out now, any thoughts from people that might know?? Two not so good photomerges, perspective always gets screwy. Searching for hostels in italy, if you know anygood places let me know!

Titian's Tomb

My weekend starts today. Signed up for a library card, really nice place with a beautiful terrace looking up at the Duomo. Hunziker proxy rolled through the Oregon sectionals, I can only assume this is T-bird and his gang. Maybe Carleton will have two teams at nationals this year? I'll try and take some pictures this weekend, or not, either way. To FUD/DtFM, you will have to talk to Casey about your garbage problem, and I was referencing this dumb game we played at camp where we got on stage and recited Oh-Wa-Ta-Goo-Si-Am and once you figured out the joke you were allowed to walk off stage. eventually the remaining contestants were flapping arms and standing in a V. As you guessed, I was the last dope standing on stage, Oh what a goose I am.

Whoa!

Jerome and I on the Accademia Bridge

Me and Bill on the same bridge!!

Suprised to see Jerome and Bill ? Me too! Apparently Veronique hooked them up with free airfare for the day, so they hopped a flight to Venice. We had a lot of fun, Jerome bought foolish glasses and of course, bill was drunk. They had to leave right away though, but it was still great to see them.

Nothing planned for this weekend, maybe a day trip or something. Bill is coming to Nfield on the 10th of January, the foundations are laid for the best birthday ever. Nothing else to report. The video is from nextech, 3am + cariboulou = Bad Camera work/ Incomprehensible italian.

I finally gave in and bought something, a 3 euro backpack from some street vendor. I haggled him down from 5 euro... sucker. It's European and bright red. Last night the FI team invited me to play at beach nationals. That's in two weekends in the same place as Burla, Viareggio. The video is from our class trip to Casa d'Erci where the bakery still makes his living baking bread, just like this. Has anybody read this ? poor guy needs to develop a few more interests in life.

My first drawing class today. Awfully academic style. You set up your easel about 15ft from the bust and then stand back and make measurements with a string looking for crucial points, angle changes, top, bottom. You end up constructing this huge connect the dots, really weird but i am sure i will get used to it. Video: these 3 guys from Scotland who bought me a couple of Guinness'. The weather is starting to get cold, packing light has really hurt my style (?). In other news, I downloaded Minesweeper for Mac, incredible...

Finals

Successful weekend. We went 3-0 on Friday, 1-2 on Saturday which bumped us down to the 5th place bracket but won out on Sunday and took 5th. Lots of fun. Beautiful beach, sunset, warm water, great teammates etc. Nextech ruled. Awesome music, late night, will share videos. It sounds like FCUT tryouts went well, though sectionals did not??. Some new kids, as well as some upperclassmen (Fred Kiley???).

Tryout Day 1

The CUT had tryouts today, hopefully everything is going well. Thinking about frisbee makes me homesick, as well as the numerous fb photos, wish I could be there with you guys. This weekend is BURLA, In Viareggio (1.5 hrs. by train from Fi), according to the director, "THE European tournament", more teams than Paganello and he said the level of play will be comparable if not higher. I had my final exam today, I passed, not really sure what it means though. I will have Italian two days a week from now on. Lots of good pictures I'm dying to post, but I don't want to run out.

Venezia

First stop was Padua, and amazing Arena Chapel frescoed by Giotto. We stayed at a nice hotel near the Santa Maria della Salute, real breakfast was a nice change from the saltless bread Nadia serves. We visited a few churches and had about 6 hours of free time the whole weekend. Campo di San Marco flooded, had gielato, almost bought some expensive clothes but decided otherwise. Mostly cool and rainy. This kid Ian broke the shower stall glass, don’t ask me how….
