Post 169

Well - it looks like I'm going to miss my 'all time high' for posts, falling just short of the mark i set in 2009 (174) - not bad considering i was cameraless for 50 odd days. 


Off to Bill's (parents) cabin tomorrow at 9am with Nate, Bill, Mellie, Claire, Hannah, Sallie, Emily, and maybe a few more.  Snowmaching, hottubbing, saunaing, canoe sledding, etc.  I can't wait to decide what the year of 2012 will be dubbed, usually we decide somewhere between midnight and 2am... 2010 was "No Sleep in 2010!!!!!" and 2011 was "No Shirts in 2011!!!!" - who knows what 2012 will hold...


That said - I'll see you all (all 13 of you) in 2012!!!!

Hello everyone, I got a new camera!!!!! - we went over to Cale's tonight and he has a new puppy, Indy.

HOME FOR THE HOLIDAZE

landed last night at midnight - 5 fresh inches of snow (: - which meant i was shoveling the driveway.  I cant remember the last time I was so pumped to shovel!


xc skiing with the mama this afternoon - evening plans still in the works.  Going to Alyeska with Zak and Curry tomorrow.

Ski day at Crystal yesterday, with the office - ENHANCE.


my first time up there - was a blast, started snowing right as we arrived, awful visibility.  Lots of Blue circles and Green squares.  Would have like to ski the black diamonds, but it was Ayva's first time on skis in ten years, and Andrea was out-of-commission so we kept it low key.  It was my first time downhilling since 2008?


replaced the corolla window today - that was tough.  If you ever need advice on how to change out a rear door window on a 93-97 toyota corolla wagon, give me a holler.


We leave for AK tomorrow.

Leaves and Stuff

I added a bunch of leaves from the yard to the chicken run - Maleficent, wasn't sure at first, as the video shows. After reading Smurray's blog, adding leaves sounded fun, plus the chicken poo mixes good with the leaves to create a good mix for compost.

 

The Roast

Sockeye roast is tomorrow - i'm roasting *****  - i'll let you know on Sunday.  The roast is just what it sounds like - a roast, each teammate has another teammate and you roast them - some people have prepared presentations, other make videos, poster, calendars, and my favorite (i've heard the story) Dave Bestock 'stole' Sam CK's answering machine and brought it to the roast and hit play (Dave had pre recorded all of these messages, many from SCk's current girlfriend, Meredith).  My other favorite roast (again, just the story i heard) was Danny Trytiak's last year on the team, he hadn't showed up to much and nobody really expected him to come to the roast - long story short, he show's up and rookie Eddie hadn't prepared a roast.  Eddie gets up and says something like - We'll Danny, nobody thought you would show up to the roast, seeing as you haven't come to much all year, so i didn't roast you (large applause) - and Danny walks out xD


DKarlinsky stopped by last night to see the new house, we talked about Sockeye, felt kinda good seeing as nobody has mentioned anything in the past 2 months.  in College, CUT was on the brain all day every day, but now frisbee is definitely moving to the background, at least for now...  It's like people lead real lives or something... Team meeting in January, i'm sure the talk will ramp up by then.


Holiday shopping mostly done - looking  for some good hip-hop check out Lamar Kendrick. 


Winter goalty league ended Monday - my team won 2 games all season.  We lost in the first round to eventual winner BJ/Nate/Tom - but ended up winning the last place game against Reid's team - breaking seed and finishing 7th!!!!!


Garden work this weekend - i'm going to lay down some cardboard to kill of the grass where we will put in the beds - i've started the compost pile - at this point a smallish pile of chickenpoo, leaves, and grass.  I got this book written in part by the group Seattle Tilth called  - Your Farm in the City - nothing too in depth but a good starting point. 


We leave for AK next Thursday - getting pumped cant wait for the snow/skiing/bill's cabin.  I miss that place.

Hello Internet! lots in the news - i got published on sky! http://skydmagazine.com/2011/12/ultimate-secret/ CUT is SCHWEET on a related CUT note - Alex Nord recently moved to SF leaving behind a chicken coop and 3 hens - now in Kyle Weisbrod's care (BOOOOOO, jk) and soon to be in my care - we are picking them all up this weekend! YAY! The basement renovation will be done tomorrow so Hannah and I can finally "move in" and thanks to the noxious fumes in the house yesterday from the renovation - Liz, Hannah, and I tried out a new place called cafe Flora - on east madison - super good vegetarian place with a killer happy hour!
